Consistent actions for massive particles interacting with electromagnetism and gravity

Calculations involving massive particles with very high spin are notoriously difficult, with covariant formulations requiring many auxiliary fields which impose constraints that remove all unphysical degrees of freedom. The push over the last several years to model classically spinning black holes as highly spinning point particles has led to new developments in techniques to perform calculations at generic values of spin, so that a large spin limit can be performed. For this talk, I will focus on the gauge invariant approach to massive integer spin particles, showing first how such an approach simplifies the Feynman rules of the Singh-Hagen actions, by arriving at propagators for all auxiliary fields in a special gauge. Then, I will show how to introduce interactions with electromagnetism and gravity which are consistent with the massive gauge symmetry, so that observables do not depend on the choice of gauge, thus providing explicit actions which permit performing loop calculations for generic spin.
