How Bootstrap and Monte Carlo became friends
Minjae Cho, Princeton University,

Both bootstrap and Monte Carlo provide methods to study many interesting physical systems. While the former explores the consequences of imposing consistency conditions, the latter explores probable configurations and produces statistical estimates. In this talk, we discuss how the two methods may provide insights into each other by focusing on the example of the statistical Ising model on the lattice. If time allows, we will also discuss the bootstrap formulation of stochastic differential equations, using stochastic resonance as an illustrative example.

The talk is in 469 Lauritsen.
