Khovanov homology from string theory
Mina Aganagic, UC Berkeley,

I will describe how string theory leads to two approaches to knot categorification, related by equivariant two-dimensional mirror symmetry. One of the two approaches is largely familiar to mathematicians, but the other is new. I will illustrate this explicitly for Khovanov homology, in which case the new theory can be solved. It ends up having a similar flavor to Heegard-Floer knot homology, for reason I will explain from physics perspective.
